The reason for the investigation was the Star Wars Battlefront II scandal, where gamers were required to either spend a lot of time in the game or buy content in loot boxes for large sums in order to develop.
As a result of the investigation, the Belgian authorities concluded that in three of the four games, Overwatch, FIFA 18 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, loot boxes fall under the definition of illegal gambling. The developers of Star Wars Battlefront II quickly made the necessary adjustments to the game immediately after launch, so technically it no longer violates the law.
