From Empty Crib to Lullabies

from Haus on 02/18/2026 12:47 PM

Hey everyone. Our nursery has been ready for years, and the empty crib has been hard to look at. For those who've been there, how did it feel when the house finally filled with a baby's presence?

That empty crib used to hurt more than I expected. It felt like a reminder of time passing. When we decided on surrogacy with full support, that room stopped feeling symbolic and started feeling practical again. Working with Surmam https://surmam.com/ gave us updates and timelines, which slowly changed how the house felt. The first night we heard lullabies instead of silence, it was emotional, but also grounding. The crib wasn't a symbol anymore. It was just furniture doing its job. That shift was healing. If you're staring at that room now, it doesn't mean you're stuck. It means you're prepared.
