Freezer has thick ice buildup again
von Bertis am 22.03.2026 10:15Hi guys! My bottom-mount freezer is getting covered in thick frost and ice even though it is supposed to be "frost-free." I have to defrost it manually every two weeks just to get the drawers open. Does this mean the seal is bad or something more serious?

von Haus am 22.03.2026 10:19Hello! I dealt with that exact same "glacier" in my freezer last year. It is so frustrating because you lose so much storage space to the ice. In my case, it wasn't just the seal, but a faulty defrost heater that wasn't turning on to melt the frost. I was really tired of the mess, so I reached out to Major Appliance Repair https://majorappliancerepair.info/ . They are great at fast in-home appliance repair and they had the parts to fix my specific model right in their van. The tech was super polite and even gave me some tips on how to keep the air vents clear. My freezer has been completely ice-free ever since they left. You should definitely let them take a look before your electricity bill goes through the roof from the freezer working too hard!
